Our Story
The Gladys Asare Foundation (GAF) was established by Ms. Gladys Asare about 25 years ago. She started from her own house and later extended it to the community she lived in, at Abeka Lapaz-Accra to be precise. She gathered the children in her own house and taught them the word of God. She gave them food, drinks, uniforms; bathed them at times and many others to make them happy. Due to this, the number kept on increasing day after day.
She realized later that the church she attended did not have a children's department, so she took this opportunity to establish that ministry in her church. Some of the kids willingly attended church with her whilst others were also encouraged to go to church with their parents.
Having said that, Ms. Gladys Asare took upon herself to help the less privileged in our societies by starting a foundation called Gladys Asare Foundation.
We named the foundation Gladys Asare because she was doing all these things out of love — a real love of God which has no specific explanations or conditions.

Some years later, Ms. Gladys Asare moved from Lapaz to Tema. She then officially started her foundation with six (6) people — four (4) children and two (2) adults — but now the foundation can claim of more than fifty (50) people under its care.
We have all these people within and outside Accra including Tema, Prampram, Ashaiman (all in the Greater Accra Region), also in Akropong in the Eastern Region and other places in other Regions.
Now the organization is registered as a non-governmental entity. We are an operational NGO, meaning we actively plan and carry out projects to accomplish our objectives. This requires a great deal of careful planning, communication, sponsorship/donations and local involvement for each project.
What We Do
The NGO relies greatly on self motivation and has considered this approach to help provide for the needs of our beneficiaries.
Education
Our young ones are sent to school to have a formal education. We believe education is the foundation for a brighter future.
Vocational Training
The NGO has newly introduced training programmes like making of liquid soaps and detergents to help our underprivileged generate income.
Apprenticeships
Other activities include apprenticeships like tailoring, auto mechanics to help our underprivileged develop skills for self-reliance.
Care & Support
We provide food, clothing, shelter assistance, and emotional support to all our beneficiaries across multiple regions in Ghana.
Advocacy
We educate the general public on the need to reach out to the less privileged and break stigmatization of marginalized groups.
Evangelism
Sharing the word of God remains at the heart of our work. We believe true transformation comes through spiritual nourishment.
